Orders & Payments

Yes. Every order is backed by our 30-day satisfaction guarantee, with free delivery Australia-wide. You can put the gear through real cooks before you decide, so there is nothing to lose by trying it. We would rather you cook with confidence than feel stuck with something that sits in a drawer, so we make the buying part as low-pressure as we can.

Both. You can grab the wireless thermometer, the stainless steel smoker box or the silicone basting brush on their own, or buy them together as a full kit. The set suits anyone wanting to cover temperature, smoke flavour and clean basting in one go, while the single items are great if you just want to fill one gap in your BBQ setup.

Product Questions

GrillGenie is built around one simple idea: great BBQ shouldn't come down to guesswork. Our tools are designed to take the guessing out of every cook, so you know exactly when your food is ready and can pull it off the heat at the right moment. Each one is made to be reliable, easy to use and built to last for years of cookouts.

The probe reads the meat's internal temperature from 0 to 85°C and the heat around it from 0 to 300°C, accurate to ±1°C. That covers steak, pork, chicken and roasts. For cuts you finish above 85°C, like pulled pork, check the final temperature with an instant-read thermometer.

Not at all. Everything is designed to be picked up and used straight away, whatever your level. Whether you're a weekend beginner or a seasoned griller, the gear does the hard part for you so you can cook with confidence from day one.

Both. Use it out at the BBQ, grill or Weber kettle with the lid closed, or slide it into a roast or whole chicken in the oven. You monitor everything from your phone anywhere within Bluetooth range, up to 30 metres in an open area, so you can step inside while the meat cooks outside. Walls and a closed lid will shorten that range. It is rated IP67 waterproof, so it handles the heat and a wash without complaint.

You fill the stainless steel box with wood chips and set it on your grill's burners or near the coals with the lid closed. The solid base keeps the chips just off the flame instead of touching it, so grill heat slowly cooks the wood past its ignition point. It smoulders and releases aromatic smoke rather than catching alight and burning off. The closed lid traps that smoke around your food, giving you genuine wood-smoke flavour without owning a dedicated smoker.

It works on both. On a gas grill you place it directly on the burners so the metal heats up and gets the chips smouldering. On a charcoal grill you set it near the coals to enhance that wood-fired flavour. Either way, the closed lid traps the smoke around your food. That is the whole point of the box: real smoke on your existing grill, no separate smoker required.

It gives you genuine wood-smoke flavour without owning a dedicated smoker, which is exactly what most backyard cooks want. It will not fully replicate a pellet or offset smoker, because gas grills lack the airflow controls used in true low-and-slow smoking. It is also not for cold smoking, which food safety authorities advise against doing at home without proper equipment. For everyday backyard smoke on ribs, chicken and brisket, it does the job well.

No. The silicone bristles are moulded directly to the brush head as one seamless piece, so there is nothing glued that can work loose the way natural boar-hair or nylon fibres do. That is the whole reason people switch across from an old brush that sheds. You will not be picking a stray bristle off the pork shoulder right as you go to serve, which is the kind of thing that puts you off basting altogether.

Yes. The silicone bristles handle heat up to 230 degrees Celsius, so basting a rib over the coals or glazing chicken on the grill will not melt or curl them. That is well past where nylon and natural bristles start to clump and go soft. Just keep it below that limit and it will stay in shape cook after cook, laying sauce on in a thin even coat rather than dumping uneven blobs.

You get a two-piece set: one wire-free stainless steel probe with a matte black handle, and one matte black charging dock with an LED indicator. The probe slots vertically into the top of the dock to recharge. It is supported here in Australia with real Bluetooth range, not a slow overseas import with a dodgy connection. For the smoker box you will need to supply your own wood chips and a grill with a lid.

Care & Use

Yes. You charge the probe on the dock, pair it to the free app once, and set your target temperature. The app walks you through the recommended target temps for each meat, so you follow a number instead of a hunch. From then on it just runs in the background and buzzes your phone when the meat hits target, so there is nothing to fiddle with mid-cook.

Not with the box. This is one of the simplest ways to start. Add your chosen wood chips, place the box on the burners or near the heat, close the lid and let it do the work. There is no airflow to fiddle with and no dedicated smoker to learn. Pick your wood type to set the flavour, and you are away on your first cook. A small bag of chips lasts a long while, since a little goes a long way.

A typical active smoking session runs around 30 minutes, though longer indirect cooks like ribs, chicken or tri-tip benefit from the box being on the whole time. The box holds chips just off the flame so they smoulder steadily through a long cook rather than burning out in minutes. It is best for food cooking longer than about 20 minutes, since larger cuts that spend real time over indirect heat pick up the most flavour.

The probe has an IP67 waterproof rating and is dishwasher-safe, so cleaning is quick after a greasy cook. The silicone basting brush is dishwasher-safe too, or you can rinse it by hand in warm soapy water. Because silicone is non-porous, sauce and oil wipe off the surface easily and the bristles dry quickly without holding residue or odour. Each cook genuinely starts clean, so your egg wash never tastes like last week's BBQ sauce.

The app includes meat presets, so instead of guessing by colour you set the recommended safe target for poultry and let it alert you when the internal temperature is reached. No more cutting in and no more wondering if someone is going to get crook. You get a clear reading and a clear buzz the moment it hits your set target, so the chicken comes off safe without the guesswork every single time.

Plenty. Glaze ribs and chicken on the grill, baste a roast with pan drippings in the oven, spread melted garlic butter over bread, brush egg wash onto pastry and pie crust, oil a cake tin, or coat grilled veg with marinade. Anywhere you need a thin even layer of liquid on food, it does the job without shedding or dripping, and it cleans up fast when you are done.

Returns, Refunds & Guarantee

You are covered by our 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Use the probe on a brisket, smoke some ribs, glaze a few racks or put the full kit through real cooks over the period. If you are not happy for any reason, send it back for a full refund. We will do whatever it takes to make sure you are satisfied, so there is no risk in trying it on your next weekend cook.

Get in touch within the 30-day window and let us know your order details. We will sort the return with you and refund you in full once it is on its way back. We would rather you cook with confidence than feel stuck with gear that sits in a drawer, so the process is meant to be simple and low-fuss, not a hoop-jumping exercise.

Not the way cheap gear does. The probe is stainless steel with an IP67 waterproof rating and is dishwasher-safe, so it handles the heat and a wash without complaint. Unlike wired thermometers that die in six months when the cable frays, there is no cable to fail here. The smoker box is polished stainless steel that smoulders chips rather than burning them, and the silicone brush holds its shape cook after cook.

About GrillGenie

We build gear for the home griller, not the professional. The thermometer, smoker box and basting brush are made to take the guesswork out of a backyard cook, whether you are doing a quick weeknight steak or an all-day brisket. Everything is designed to be simple enough that a first-timer can get going, while still being solid enough that a keen cook keeps reaching for it.

Often on your very next cook. The first time you pull a steak at the exact temperature you wanted, instead of cutting in to check, you will see the difference on the plate. Chicken comes off safe without the guesswork, expensive cuts stop getting overcooked, and you are not losing heat with every peek under the lid. The smoke flavour shows up on the first long cook.

Yes. Our gear is supported here in Australia, with free standard delivery from local stock via Australia Post (usually 5–9 business days) and Bluetooth range of up to 30 metres in the open. If something is not right, you deal with us and our 30-day guarantee, so you are never left chasing a faceless overseas seller. We want you confident at the grill from the first cook onwards.
